Eco-Living
Joining In
Ecosystems are the
interactions of living things with their living and
nonliving environment. Ecosystems provide us with air to
breathe, water to drink, and food to eat. It makes sense
that we should maintain them. Ecosystems also provide us
with products we use to provide shelter, energy, and
clothing. Restoring damaged ecosystems and maintaining
'healthy' ecosystems makes sense. How to restore and
maintain ecosystems is a complex scientific problem but
there are some things that we can do. First, click on to
the side bar items to see what you can do at home.
Second, consider how you spend your money. You hold
purchasing power in you hands each time you make a
transaction. Buy items that are 'eco-certified'. The eco-certification provides some assurance that the items
were made from products that minimized ecosystem damage.
Then consider supporting groups that are encouraging the
restoration and maintenance of ecosystems. Here are a few
links to environmental groups and eco-certification.
