HAWAIIAN CROW - A secretive bird found in
the tropical rainforests and shrub lands of the
Hawaiian Islands in the United States, the
Hawaiian crow could quickly become extinct in the
wild because of a tiny wild population and major
threats from agriculture, habitat destruction,
hunting, collecting and alien invasive species.
The Hawaiian Crow is protected by federal and
state law.
IMPERIAL WOODPECKER – The largest
species of
woodpecker measuring up to 22 inches long they are
found in the tropical rainforests of Mexico. Last
seen in
1993, and has never been found again. The Imperial
Woodpecker became endangered as a result of
deforestation and if not extinct ( which is almost
a certainty ) any
remaining population is likely to be tiny.
